Halo-Halo is a Filipino shaved ice dessert made with beans, fruits, and jellies.


Filipino shaved ice dessert made with beans, fruits, and jellies. This is a summer treat and is amazingly refreshing! Topped with milk, flan, ube jam, and ice cream. Cold and refreshing!

Ingredients

  • Sweetened saba bananas

  • Sweetened red mung beans

  • Sweetened white beans

  • ½ cup gulaman cubes or sago

  • ¼ cup sweetened red mung beans

  • ¼ cup sweetened white beans

  • ½ cup UFC Coconut Gel (Nata De Coco), drained well

  • ½ cup UFC Sugar Palm Fruit (Kaong), drained well

  • ½ cup sweetened saba bananas

  • ½ cup sweetened jackfruit strips

  • ¼ cup Barrio Fiesta Macapuno String

  • ½ cup ube halyaya

  • shaved ice

  • 1 cup evaporated milk

  • 1 cup leche flan

  • 4 scoops ice cream (mango, ube, or vanilla)

  • ¼ cup pinipig


Step 1: Prepare


Prepare the gulaman according to package directions. Use less water than called for to yield a firmer texture


Step 2: Layer


In a tall glass, add about a teaspoon each of desired add-ins to about ⅓ full and pack the glass around the layers with shaved ice.


Step 3: Drizzle


Drizzle evaporated milk over the ice and top the ice with leche flan and 1 scoop of ice cream flavor choice.


Step 4: Garnish


Garnish with strips of macapuno and sprinkle with pinipig, if desired. Serve immediately.
